Animatronic Technical Notes

Compiled details about the Glamrock generation of animatronics to assist in roleplay

Behaviour

  • The animatronics are highly advanced with self-aware Artificial Intelligence and emotions, almost indistinguishable from a human, aside from some small robotic quirks and exaggerated personalities. [1]

  • The animatronics often make references to their robotic features while not under the influence of the virus seen in Security Breach. Otherwise, aggressive and destructive tendencies are amplified, nullifying other behavioural tendencies. [1][2][3]

  • Severe temperature fluctuations can cause behavioural regulation issues. [3]

  • During their earlier stages as endoskeletons, animatronics must be taught the same way a human would on how to behave and interact with others. [3]

  • The animatronics use a variation of the Mimic1 program to learn by mimicking actions. Sometimes, even after initial training, they may randomly stare at people to observe their behaviour and keep note of it, unaware that it is inappropriate to do so. [3][4]

Hardware

  • Endoskeletons possess an artificial cortex, or brain, located within their heads. With the right key, a lock handle can be released at the back of the head to access the cortex. [5]

  • Motivation chips encourage undeveloped animatronic endoskeletons to develop a personality. [3]

  • Coolant is required to keep the endoskeleton cool. A hatch behind the shoulders can be opened to refill the coolant, with tubes running throughout the endoskeleton to circulate it. [5]

  • Ocular fluid at a regulated temperature is required in the animatronics' ocular sensors to function; otherwise, they are blind. [3]

  • The recharge cycle for the animatronics is every hour. [6] However, their batteries can last up to two and a half hours on regular power and slightly longer on reserve power. [–]

  • The animatronics can feel pain and various other sensory feelings similar to humans. [1] This is due to complex sensors embedded underneath their shells. [–]

Firmware

  • The animatronics can enter 'Rest Mode', disabling their interactive functions and reducing power consumption without fully shutting off. [1]

  • The animatronics can enter 'Safe Mode', which only allows vital functions to operate. This can sometimes be accompanied by reduced power, drastically decreasing battery life. [1]

  • The animatronics can enter 'Show Mode', enabled during stage performances. [1]
